New Parent Meeting Notes

Hello All!
Thank you to all the parents who came out to our New Parent Meeting tonight. Below are some key notes that were discussed!

- band registration closes October 7th please have all registrations and instrument orders in by then! (See post below)

-lessons begin the week of OCT 12th!!!

-rental instruments will be delivered on Wednesdays so please be sure to have any orders placed before Tuesday end of day to ensure they are on the truck

- practice requirements vary from student to student but we encourage them to try and play just a few minuets 5-10min every day! This repetition will help build their "chops" so they can play for long stretches.

- tuition is due the start of each trimester. You will recieve a paper statement so keep an eye on those take home folder

-students should have fun! This program is meant to foster your child's passion for music... With that being said there is no "bench" in music we all play the concert so our band mates are counting on us to work hard and be prepared!!

-guitar students do not need amps at school one will be provided!

-all students must bring their instruments and Books to every lesson

-orchestra book: all for strings
-guitar book: Mel bay guitar book 1
-winds: essential elements 2000

These are all the things I remember, however it is late so as I remember things I'll add them on!

End of the Year info!

Hello Parents,

I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for all your support this year in the Fine and Performing Arts department here at Nativity. Mr. Dair, Mrs. Ferrio, Mr. Gooding and I are so proud of all the hard work your students have put in. It has been an amazing experience to see this program grow and flourish and to see your students progress throughout this past year.

Attached is a flyer with information regarding rental returns (if your student had decided to stop or switch instruments) and Summer Lesson information. Please take a moment to read through the attached flyer and don't hesitate to email me if you have any future questions.

Later today or tomorrow I will be sending out a link to our "One Happy Band" Video. Your students have worked hard this past few weeks since the concert to learn, record, and film a fun video that we think captures the spirt of our program! Please keep an eye on your inboxes.

Thank you again, and we hope to see you all in the fall of 2015!

Sincerely,

Mr. Myers

Spring Concert Info

Hello Parents!

Well it has finally arrived, the weekend before our spring concert!  Please be sure to encourage your students to keep practicing over this weekend to be ready for Tuesday nights (5/5) concert.

Location: Archbishop Wood
Call Time: 6:30pm (Students should report to the band room behind stage)
Dress Code: School uniform + Fun Hats, Glasses, socks etc.
Start Time: 7:00pm (music will begin)

We have 15-18 short pieces we will be performing between the three groups. The whole concert will run just under an hour. Mr. Dair, Mr. Gooding, Mrs. Ferrio and I are all very excited to present this years spring concert.

Since the spring concert has fallen a bit earlier this year we will be continuing lessons until June 1st. We have a very special plan / project our students will be doing for the last month of lessons! Please remember as always this is a free concert, bring anyone and everyone you know so we can share the music with as many of our family and friends as possible! Thanks and have a wonderful long weekend!

Monday April 20th Info for Spring Concert (Emails reposted to blog)

Hello Parents!

It is that time of year again and we are just a few weeks away from our Spring Concert on May 5th at 7:00pm over at ABW.  The students have been working hard and are coming down the home stretch! Please encourage them to continue to keep practice and this will be a concert to remember.

I have sent home tuition reminders with all of our band students. If you have already sent in a check for the spring trimester your invoice should be marked PAID. Please remember to make checks payable toNativity Bands LLC.

The kids are really sounding great and I can't wait for everyone to hear this years Spring Concert!

Intermediate Orchestra will meet Thursday AND Friday this week at lunch from 12:20-1:50 to make up for last Friday's lesson. Please notify your student to be ready to come in at lunch both days. Thanks!

On MONDAY April 27th we will be holding an after school dress rehearsal from 3:30-5:00pm please be sure to make plans for your student to attend. I know this is a busy time of year but this is our chance to put the whole show together with all 3 ensembles. The dress will be held at NATIVITY we will be down in the hall to practice. Thanks so much!

-Mr. Myers

I apologize again about the mix up with May procession and our spring concert. The new OFFICIAL date for the spring concert will be May 5th @ 7pm over at ABW. This new date does come with its challenges. First off our 4th grade will be on a field trip that day during school hours making a dress rehearsal during school impossible. We have decided we will hold an after school dress rehearsal some time the week before to prep the students for the concert. This new date is also a week earlier meaning the students really need to up their practicing these last few weeks!
