Hello Everyone,

I am SO excited for another amazing year at Nativity as your Instrumental Music provider! Please take time to review our 2018 Instrumental Music Packet for all the details surrounding this years program.

I am also excited to congratulate Mr. Jones, our resident brass teacher, on his new position at Kutztown University! Professor Jones will still be instructing our young brass students on Thursdays after school.

For Wind Ensemble (Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone) students and Orchestra (Violin, Viola, Cello) Members please visit our preferred instrument vendor Cole's Music Service to rent your instrument and it will be delivered right to Nativity!

Please feel free to attend out annual Parent Info meeting which will be help OCTOBER 1st @7pm in the Music Room at Nativity.

I can't wait to see all our young aspiring musicians grow in their skills and abilities, but more importantly I am very excited to see them grow in their love for music. See you all soon!

Spring Concert!

Hello Parents, 

HAPPY MAY! Wow, who would have thought this year could have gone so fast! Our spring concert is really coming along and the students sound great. We will be making a few changes this year to make the most of our final rehearsals. Instead of our traditional three group dress rehearsal the week of the concert we are going to be doing things a bit differently this year. 

The wind ensemble will actually be rehearsing on stage THIS THURSDAY after school. Students will begin in the band room with Jamal and I to work through some parts as a section but will be moving to the gym from 4-5 to run our music on stage. If all goes well this will alleviate the need for a Monday dress rehearsal allowing Mr. Gooding and Mr. McDonough to use the stage as needed early next week. 

Orchestra will rehearse next week as normal however, Mr. Gooding may opt to use the gym towards the end of his lessons if he feels it necessary. 

Mr. McDonough will be using the gym during lunch/after school to give students some stage time. 

Our concert will begin at 7pm NEXT WEDNESDAY (May 23rd) 

Dress code: is "Sunday Casual" with spring colors. No tee shirts, or basket ball shorts. Collared Shirt, slacks or nice Bermuda style shorts. Skirts must be below the knee! 

Also one final reminder that Spring Tuition is due prior to the concert!  

Single Student - $200

Double Student - $300

Triple Student - $350

March Schedule Changes

Hello all,

I am sorry to say I am going to need to make another adjustment to this weeks band schedule. Due to the various weather issues over the past few weeks I have a meeting that has been rescheduled for Thursday that I must attend. However, I figured this would provide me an opportunity to provide a bit of extra instruction to our Wind players who have missed two weeks due to weather/Confirmation. This weeks plan will go as follows

All trumpet/trombone lessons with Jamal will remain Thursday 3:20 to 3:50 for beginners and  3:50 to 4:20 for intermediates. 

All WIND ENSEMBLE members (Clarinets, Saxophones, Trumpets, Trombones,Bells) will meet FRIDAY from 3:20 to 4:20  this will give me a full hour of ensemble to work with the band on a new song we will be performing for the spring concert. 

All WOOD WINDS/MALLETS (Clarinet, Saxophone, Bells) will have a sectional lesson from 4:20 to 4:50 on Friday. 

This plan gives everyone 1.5 hours of instruction this week, which will help make up for some of the time we have missed this feb/march.

UPDATES TO SCHEDULE!

Hello Everyone,

Just a few reminders/changes to the up coming schedule. 

-There will be NO woodwind or wind ensemble lessons this THRUSDAY, Mr. Jones will be in to teach brass from 3:20 - 4:20 students must be picked up by 4:25 or they will be sent to cares!

- Orchestra lessons have been rescheduled from next Monday 3/5 to TUESDAY 3/6 (times are the same) any students in PAWS will attend orchestra first then report to the gym!

- We are planning a tentative date of MAY 16th for the Spring Concert, I will send another email later to confirm.

EAGLES Parade

Hello Everyone, 

Due to the overwhelming number of students expected to attend the EAGLES Parade we will be canceling Instrumental Music lessons tomorrow (Thursday 2/8/2018). We do plan to make this time up a bit closer to our spring concert with some additional dress rehearsal time or an extra Friday rehearsal. Please stay tuned for updates to the schedule moving forward. Thanks for your flexibility.

Concert/Dress Rehearsal UPDATE 5/17

Hello Parents,

A couple quick things! I have been lucky enough to be able to reserve the gym for both Monday and Tuesday next week. This means I am able to break the dress rehearsals up to maximize stage time for each group to rehearse. Next week Schedule is as follows! Your student only needs to attend during their posted ensembles times! 

Monday 5/15: Wind Ensemble (Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion: Joe/Vincent) 3:30-5:30

Monday 5/15: Orchestra (Violin, Viola) 3:30-5:30

Tuesday 5/16: Guitar Ensembles (Guitar, Bass, Percussion: Teagan, Brian, Chris, Kyle) 3:30-5:00

Tuesday 5/16: Percussion Ensemble (Teagan, Brian, Chris, Kyle, Joe, Vincent!) 3:30-5:00

Wednesday 5/17: CONCERT All Ensembles

Call Time/Doors open: 6:00pm

Concert Runs: 6:30pm-7:30pm

Dress Code: Dress down (Rock inspired, favorite Band T shirt, Jeans etc) Please make sure everything is Catholic school appropriate! It should be something you would wear on a 3D day. Fun hats/socks/glasses are welcome!

Makeups, Dress Rehearsal, and more!

Hello Parents! 

Happy MAY! We are just 17 days away from our Spring Band Concert and your students have been doing a wonderful job preparing for our upcoming concert. Please remember to encourage daily practice to help them be ready for this very fun evening! Our Spring Band Concert will be held from 6:30-7:30. Please make note of this start time is a bit earlier than years past. Unfortunately ABW has their spring show the same night starting at 7:30 and many of our families have students in both so I moved our start time up by 30min. 

Event: Spring Band Concert

Date: May 17th, 2017

Time: 6:30pm - 7:30pm 

MAKEUPS: I would like to make up the Wind Ensemble lessons that were missed in March by running a 1 hour rehearsal on TUESDAY May 9th from 3:15-4:15. This is not a mandatory rehearsal however I hope that all our students are able to attend so that we can have a full hour to rehearse as a group to better prepare for the dress rehearsal. Beginner Guitar will have their makeup on TUESDAY May 16th from 3:15 - 3:45 and Advanced Guitar will have their makeup TUESDAY May 16th from 3:45 - 5:00

Dress Rehearsal: Will be Monday May 15th from 3:30-5:30 for ALL instrumentalist. This will give us time to work with each ensemble on stage and run our show. Mr. Gooding will work with our Orchestra Students while I rehearse the Winds/Guitars. Please plan to pick your students up in the back parking lot by 5:30pm!

Quick correction to my previous email. The Wind Ensemble Makeup was supposed to be TUESDAY May 9th (not May 8th like was in my previous email) however that is Nativity's MAY procession. So instead it will have to be WEDNESDAY May 10th from 3:15-4:15 I am sorry for this confusion and Thank you to those of you who brought it to my attention!

Spring Concert Info

Hello Everyone!

I am excited to say that our Spring Concert is fast approaching!  Mr. Gooding and I have been able to schedule the show for Wednesday May 17th from 6:30pm - 7:30pm in the Nativity Community Center. 

- Students should arrive at 6:00 for tuning (Band/Guitar report to Music Room, Orchestra May report to the stage in the Gym)

-Dress Code: Students are asked to wear Summer Uniform and as usual may ad fun music flare to their outfits (Hats, Ties (no singing ties), Socks, etc. 

- Our Dress Rehearsal will be Monday May 15th and will run from 3:30-5:30 after school. Please pick your students up from the "D" Door near the Music room. 

-Make Up Lessons: At this time I am starting to try and schedule some makeup lessons from my bereavement leave / PAWS conflicts. It is my plan to rehearse on a few Tuesdays from 3:00-4:00 I will send another email at a later date for these makeups groups and times. My plan is to move them a bit closer to the spring show so that we have more material to practice and we can use this makeup time a mini dress rehearsals for different sections. Thanks for your understanding. 

Lastly we have now entered the 3rd Trimester so please send your Spring Tuition. Checks must be made payable to Nativity Bands LLC There are still a few lessons

Hello Parents,

Merry Christmas! Well here we are just about a week away from our first band concert for the school year! Your students have been doing a wonderful job and I wanted to take a moment to say how proud I am of each and every one of them. Please know this can be a very stressful time in the life of a young musician! They are just beginning to realize how much goes into learning a full piece of music and the pressure of a live show can cause them to become very nervous. Please just remind them that the goal of our Christmas Concert is not to perform flawless works of music but instead to spread the joy of Christmas with our instruments, all while giving them a chance to experience a live performance!

Please note:

MONDAY Dec 12th will be a short dress rehearsal after school from 3:30-5:00. We will work with students playing their songs, getting used to the gym space, and transitioning on and off stage. Students may be picked up at the main doors of the community center! 

The Concert will be TUESDAY NIGHT (Dec 13th) at 7pm and will last just under an hour.  We are asking students to arrive at 6:15 so that we may tune their instruments and get them in their places. Dress Code for the concert is as follows:

- School Uniform

- Any additional Christmas Flair! (Hats, Socks, Ties, garland, go nuts!)

Hello Band Parents,

This is a test of my new Band Parent 2016-2017 email list I have generated from your registrations. If there is another address (spouse, grandparent, etc) that you would like me to add to the group so they receive updates please email me (dmyers@noolp.org) and I will add them right away. Also if you hear from a friend that they have not been receiving the band parent emails please let them know to contact me and I will resolve the issue ASAP!

Tuition checks for Fall 2016 trimester (Oct-Dec) are due. Please be sure to send a check made payable to Nativity Bands LLC in with your student or drop it in the office before the end of October if possible. If you have already sent your check in but have not seen it deposited I apologize for the delay as I have had difficultly making it to the bank before they close! All checks should be deposited by the end of this week!

Please sign up for my emergency Text Alert System which will allow me to communicate any last minute cancelations for lessons due to weather or teacher conflicts. I will send a test Text Alert Message some time next week to make sure everyone who has registered is receiving the alerts. 

I am very excited to have gotten the program up and running again, and our students seem more excited than ever. I look forward to working with all of them over the next few weeks as we prepare for our Christmas Concert which will be held on

Spring Concert Has Arrived!

Hello Parents,

IT IS HERE!!! Wow, what an amazing year it has been here in the Fine and Performing Arts world.  I cannot convey how truly excited Mr. Gooding, Mrs. Ferrio, and I are to present this years Spring concert. This will be one for the ages as we are presenting music from Mozart to Prince, classical to rock, movie music to sports jams, and everything in-between. Please be sure to invite anyone and everyone for tomorrow night (Wednesday MAY 18th) The concert will begin promptly at 7:00pm in the Nativity Community Center. Below is all the Info you will need!

Student Call Time: 6:15p- 6:30p (In the Music Room 118)

Doors Open to Gym: 6:15p- 6:30p

Concert Begins: 7:00p

Concert Ends: 8:00p

Student Dress Code: Concert Attire - Boys (Dress Pants, Collared Shirt, Tie spring colors if possible) Girls-(Dress Slacks, Blouse, or Dress... PLEASE MAKE SURE GIRLS DRESSES ARE CATHOLIC SCHOOL APPROPRIATE!) Students will be seated up on stage, dresses must be below the knee. 

Please make sure you student has EVERYTHING they need to perform i.e. Music, Instrument, Cables, Reeds, Drum Sticks, Music, Mouthpiece, Music, Neck straps, Music... etc. PLEASE DONT FORGET YOUR MUSIC!

Dress Rehearsal Rescheduled!!!!

Hello Band Parents,

This email is to notify you that I had to make a scheduling change for the spring concert DRESS REHEARSAL! Our previous time for dress rehearsal was after school (3:30-5:30) however we will be unable to do our dress rehearsal at that time.  With limited availability in the gym after school I have spoken with Ms. Maddaloni and received permission to hold dress rehearsal during the afternoon of Monday May 16th, from 12:50-2:50. This will get students back to class in time to make their bus and will not interfere with any of the after school activities. Students teachers have been notified and students will be responsible to make up any missed work. I do my best to limit missed class time however I think holding the dress rehearsal will be crucial to the students success and comfort during the Wednesday night show and this seems to be our only option! 

Please remember that the Spring Concert is WEDNESDAY May 18th from 7pm-8pm in the Nativity Community Center. All are welcome and admission is FREE, the students have been working very hard and have 9 more days to put it all together, it should be a fantastic show! Don't forget to grab aunt sally, crazy uncle mike, and all the family to come see us perform the music of Mozart, John Williams, the Beatles, and even Prince! It will be a great night for all, and as usual I promise to provide plenty of musically based jokes to entertain you between songs. Thank you again!
